FAQ's
OUR MISSION: To bring advances in neuroscience and brain imaging into everyday treatment. We use the most advanced technology, producing real-time, 3-dimensional brain imaging and thats what makes us DIFFERENT.
FAQ'S
Do you take insurance?
We do not participate with any insurance companies as an In-network provider. If you have out of network insurance, we are happy to provide you with full clinical receipts with diagnostic codes, so that you can submit a claim. Our staff are experienced with billing and insurance companies. We will help you in every way we can to make sure that you receive the most reimbursement possible.
How is Gray Matters different?
Brain mapping and neurofeedback are still quite unregulated, and the difference between providers can be significant. At Gray Matters we pride ourselves on being at the very cutting edge of this rapidly evolving technology, offering the most effective individualized treatment to everyone we see.
We offer the most advanced qEEG brain mapping available, with completely individually written reports that are tailored to each person's difficulties and needs. Our neurofeedback is the most advanced available in the region, and completely individualized for each patient.
How many sessions do I need?
Most people need around 40 sessions of neurofeedback for significant and lasting benefits. Sometimes, patients need fewer sessions (often with concussion, as we are restoring previous function). Other patients may need more sessions.
Does it hurt/will I feel anything?
No. QEEG brain mapping and your feedback are completely passive. We are measuring and monitoring brain activity that is detectable from the surface of the head. The same way that you would listen to the chest with a stethoscope or the heart with an EKG.
Are there side-effects?
Many neurofeedback clinicians claim that neurofeedback is side effect free. This seems counter intuitive. How can you claim to change brain function for the better but for it to be impossible to change it for the worse? This is why, at Gray matters, our experience counts. With decades of combined experience in neurofeedback and incredibly careful brain mapping, we have a clear idea of how to reduce symptoms without unwanted side effects.
Neurofeedback at Gray Matters follows a careful protocol: matching symptoms with measurable differences in brain function. By training only the brain function linked to symptoms, we avoid side effects while improving function.
When should I notice changes?
Most people notice improvements after between 10 and 20 sessions. With children, often it is parents or people who haven't seen them for some time that remark on these improvements.
What are the age range of patients you can treat?
We treat children as young as two years old all the way up to adults in their 80s.
How do your remote systems work?
We began our remote neurofeedback program before COVID-19, but have greatly expanded it over the last few years. We supply everything you need, including a computer and the same neurofeedback hardware and software that we use in-clinic at Gray Matters. Sessions can be either clinician guided, with us controlling everything remotely, or independently if preferred.
Our remote systems allow you to receive the same quality and individual attention, wherever you are. Remote systems appeal to people who live far from Gray Matters, people who live nearby with busy schedules, and to those who simply want the discretion and freedom of receiving the highest level of treatment in their own home.
When are you open?
We are open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm
What do you treat?
Depression, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, PTSD, TBI, Concussion, migraines, sleep issues. Oftentimes people struggle with multiple diagnoses, and yes, we can help treat multiple issues at the same time.
