We Treat:
Everyone experiences sadness as a natural reaction to difficult life events, but depression describes a more profound state of emotional suffering. People experiencing depression feel unable to function, robbed of the joys of life and without energy or purpose.
For some people, depression comes in cycles, for others, it is chronic and unrelenting. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, depression is the leading cause of disability in adults in the U.S., affecting 19.7 million people. According to the Center for Disease Control, one in ten U.S adults take antidepressants at any one time, an increase of 400% since 1988. However, research suggests that antidepressants are only effective for around 30% of the people who take them.
Gray Matters has treated thousands of people with depression, both adults and children. Like any treatment for depression, neurofeedback needs to be accompanied by a desire to get better, and often requires changes in behavior, like sleep and exercise. As therapists as well as experts in brain imaging, we understand our role in your recovery: Neurofeedback is a catalyst for change, our team makes it happen.
